Wellesley Pleated Peacoat

First worn by Dutch sailors in the 1800s, the peacoat was prized for its coarse "pije" wool, which reliably withstood the wind and rain. Originally flared at the hips to make it easier to climb ropes and ladders, the modern peacoat is still defined by a button front and a nautical, preppy style.
