NUULY COLLABS|

Re_Nuuly x Zero Waste Daniel

In our biggest Re_Nuuly collab yet, we teamed up with NYC-based designer + upcycling trailblazer Zero Waste Daniel to turn retired Nuuly garments into 10 rentable styles.

Here’s how ZWD turned 1,300+ out-of-commission Nuuly styles into new-again pieces.

Match Maker, Match Maker

Re_Nuuly + ZWD were connected by FABSCRAP, a NYC/Philly org that recycles + repurposes textile waste, to form what can only be described as an upcycled-fashion power couple.

Sketches, materials + photos of the collection

Power Couple Pt. 2

Daniel + his partner Mario, who manages the business side of the ZWD operation, unloaded about 30 heavy boxes of Nuuly garments into their Bushwick studio. They considered the textiles they were working with (denim + lightweight linens) + Mario made a moodboard before the team decided on a playful, springy vibe.

Native New Yorkers

Daniel draped + cut the garments, developed patterns, created samples + took copious notes to pass off to manufacturers. Re_Nuuly x ZWD garments were fabricated entirely in NYC, either at local factories in Manhattan + Queens or in-house by Daniel himself. A lot of hand sewing + care went into creating the collection.

Take a Risk

ZWD makes clothes for “the best night of your life,” clothes that will spark conversation about sustainability + style. Daniel also encourages Nuulyers to have fun and try something new. He says, “This is a rental, so take a risk. Even if you’re not sure it’s for you, try it out, see if you like it, if it makes you feel good, if you get compliments wearing it.”
